This high-level event marks the end of the two-year Civil Society Advancing Beneficial Ownership Transparency (CSABOT) project, aimed at creating synergies between the activities of civil society organisations and the efforts of the European Union to put an end to money laundering and financial crime. This project was implemented on behalf of the European Commission under the coordination of Transparency International and involving Transcrime – Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Tax Justice Network and the Government Transparency Institute as partners.
This event will bring together EU policy makers, civil society organisations, activists, experts, journalists and academics committed to improving beneficial ownership transparency and AML/CFT prevention across the EU.
More specifically, experts and panelists will explore challenges and best practices in beneficial ownership transparency in Europe, discuss how beneficial ownership registers can effectively advance the fight against money laundering and financial crimes and investigate how to untap the power of beneficial ownership data when combined with other datasets across the EU.
